Age of the Incredible Hulk DVD Review – An Honest Movie Review
Incredible Hulk is a highly entertaining, action-packed film directed by James Mangold and starring Ed Norton. In 2021, the world was introduced to Dr. Bruce Banner, an aging science officer of the Strategic Scientific Research Reserve (SAR). His background is that of a war veteran and gifted geneticist, now called ‘The Incredible Hulk’. With the help of a serum created from an experimental accident with a foreign substance, he has increased his strength and protected the Earth. But when a virus targets his heart and brain, The Hulk transforms into a monster Hulk.
Mangold’s film version of the character is quite different from the comic books, as he is never seen angry in the book. Instead, he is portrayed as a suave, arrogant professional who is a scientific genius. In the book, Bruce Banner says that his experience in the Korean War toughened him up, giving him a more robust body. Mangold instead shows Banner (Norton) as a laid back scientist who lacks the patience and humility of the scientist in the book.
In the film, the character is shown to be rather sensitive. He believes strongly in protecting the innocent, so he goes into battle dressed as a vigilante. Banner is a good fighter, using his intellect and strength to fight off villains. He has two assistants: Betty Bridesmaid (Sandra Oh), a strong fighter; and General Thunderbolt Ross (eds Strucker), a marine. They team up to fight the Hulk.
The Incredible Hulk GBA was a box office hit, grossing over three-quarters of a billion dollars (in foreign currency) at the time of release. It went on to become one of the biggest-budget films of all time, grossing another billion dollars worldwide. The film spawned four sequels, as well as a TV series, theatrical play and of course the Marvel comic book series. While some of the characters from the first film are gone, most have made a come back, including Ross, Leader of the Resistance, Abomination and Brawler. The new characters have their own series of films, featuring them alongside their classic predecessors.
The Incredible Hulk GBA is a combination of old and new, in-your-face fun with a touch of romance. There’s no shortage of humor, as you’ll find Banner being saved by an egg, a reference to the classic Eggo toy that was popular in the 1970s. The humor is occasionally tongue-in-cheek, but it’s still a lot of fun to see Banner wisecrack at his enemies in his trademark green suit. The action sequences, especially those dealing with the destruction of New York, are well-animated, while the supporting cast is also colorful and hilarious.
Age of Incredible Hulk is both entertaining and educational. If you’re a huge fan of the previous film (The Incredible Hulk) or you haven’t seen the new version, you’ll probably enjoy this one just as much as the last. It’s a good mix of old and new, and it’s a lot of fun to boot. If you like action films that are a bit darker than normal, then you’ll definitely want to add this to your viewing list.
