Incredible Hulk Episode 2 – The Incredible Hulk and Kindred Spirits

In order to avoid situations that cause him to transform into the Incredible Hulk, David isolates himself in a remote wilderness area. However, he is lured out of his hiding place when the leader of a gangster organization, Allure, needs him for his own sinister purposes. When he and her rival Rick Jones take over a museum, Banner has no choice but to go all out against them. The fight leaves Ross in a coma and Banner in jail, where he is soon discovered by his cousin She-Hulk, who takes immediate delight in her new body. She and the Gargoyle display a strong affection for one another.

Meanwhile, a librarian (Kim Cattrall) at an upscale Manhattan library finds herself on the run from a group of hit men. She enlists the help of the librarian’s boyfriend, who turns out to be a reformed gangster, in an attempt to outwit them and keep his secret from becoming public knowledge. She also helps a woman who was wrongly convicted of murder.

In a move to cure himself of the incredible hulk, Dr. Bruce Banner visits his old friend, Walter Langkowski in Canada. But it isn’t what it seems as he begins to develop a bestial alter ego. Then, when the Leader and his flunkies steal a space satellite, Banner, She-Hulk and the Thing must battle them in an arena fashioned after the famous Duel film.

At the end of the episode, Banner is reintroduced to Betty Ross, who still rejects him as she refuses to admit that she has feelings for him. She does, however, help him track down his former professor, a man who was part of the experiment that turned Banner into the incredible hulk.

The team travels to Honolulu, Hawaii to meet Dr. Carolyn Fields, a psychologist who might have found a way to cure the incredible hulk. Unfortunately, she is dying from a terminal disease and has no desire to work with Banner anymore.

A saboteur infiltrates the reopened Gamma Base, where Dr. Glenn Talbot is trying to resurrect the incredible hulk. He succeeds, but the gamma radiation unleashes the incredible She-Hulk as well. In the end, the incredible hulk and She-Hulk battle beings of pure energy as well as the Leader’s henchmen. This episode marks the first appearance of the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom (voiced by Peter Strauss) and his henchman Ogress (voiced by Clancy Brown). This also plays off the fact that the Incredible Hulk and She-Hulk shared cameo appearances in the animated version of the Fantastic Four cartoon from the same era. This would become a regular feature in subsequent seasons of the series. In addition, the show’s producer, Lou Ferrigno, makes a guest appearance as himself. He starred in two other episodes in season one.
