Incredible hulk ferrigno
Lou Ferrigno, the imposing bodybuilder / actor who played the savage green monster in the original TV series The Incredible Hulk, stopped by Legends Comics and Games in Clovis Sunday. The local crowd was ecstatic to see him and got the chance to meet him for autographs. Ferrigno has an international reputation and fan base that many A-list movie stars can only dream of.
The film itself is a pretty standard superhero fare, with a scientist who turns into a giant green monster when he gets mad or stressed. The special effects in the movie are actually very good, and they successfully recreate the look of the lab experiment from the TV show. The film also takes the time to set up a backstory for the character, which is nice.
However, there are a few things that the film could have done better. First, it does not do a very good job of establishing the relationship between the scientist and his girlfriend. This is not a major problem, but it does detract from the overall experience of watching the movie. The second issue is that the film does not really develop the main villain of the story, Dr. Samuel Sterns. While there are some scenes involving Sterns and Banner, these are fairly brief. Sterns himself is not really developed as an evil antagonist, and the film does a poor job of portraying his motivations.
The third major flaw in the film is that it does not do a very good job developing the Hulk. While the character is leaner and meaner than any portrayal to come, he still lacks that human element. The movie relies on the audience to fill in the rest of his personality, but it does not provide much information beyond what is already known from the other Hulk films. The movie also makes the mistake of giving him a savage, almost animalistic temperament that does not play well with audiences.
Despite its flaws, the movie is entertaining to watch. There is a certain energy to it that is hard to deny, and the action is exciting. The acting is not excellent, but the characters are well-written. The movie has a few pacing issues and some cheesy dialogue, but it is still enjoyable to watch.
In addition to the dated effects and some weak character development, this is one of the few Marvel films that does not truly capture the essence of its subject. It is unfortunate that the studio did not give the film its full potential, but it is still worth watching. It would be great if the film could get a modern remake someday. With a stronger script, more character development, and more spectacular special effects, the film would be much better. But, for now, it is a good place to start for fans of the Incredible Hulk.
