Doctor David Banner (Bill Bixby) is a scientist who has been involved in some experiment which has caused him to have the ability to transform into the incredible green monster known as the hulk. During the episodes Dr Banner would travel across America working temporary jobs and helping people, while trying to find a way to cure his condition. He was constantly pursued by tabloid newspaper reporter Jack McGee (Jack Colvin) who thinks that Dr Banner is a dangerous menace and wants to expose him.

In some of the episodes you would see Dr Banner turn into the hulk a few times. He was usually only able to control himself for twenty or thirty seconds. But he was still very strong and could pick up cars with one hand! He could also jump high enough to reach the clouds.
