Incredible Hulk is one of the best films of the year, and rightly so. Directed by Marvel’s blockbuster movie franchise opener, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the film sees Bruce Banner (Tom Cruise) diagnosed with a Gamma radiation induced brain tumor. This forces him to undertake an incredible mission into outer space to find a cure for his illness… Meanwhile, the Hulk (busterilled by Ed Norton) makes a return after some time away, determined to exact vengeance on those who betrayed him in the first place. Having grown more powerful with Gamma radiation, the Hulk seeks revenge on all those who dared harm him – and those who made him weak by weakening him first.
Those who have seen the film already will know why this second installment of the blockbuster franchise is so successful. They will also be glad to see how versatile Norton’s character remains in the film. While he still wants to do battle with the Hulk, he is now more interested in researching and working at a peace organization run by Dr. Crawford. Although he does not have a personality of his own, he is still the central character, and the driving force behind the film’s plot. And though he is not as brawny or as muscular as his prior films, Norton’s performance remains commendable.
If you are a huge fan of the previous films, then you will most likely find the beginning and end of the film very boring. You know exactly what is coming next, and aren’t left in suspense. However, if you haven’t seen the first film, then you are definitely missing out. For those who have seen it, or are just curious about what the plot entails, this opening narration will provide you a great deal of information about the film. It is well worth your time to read through the story just to get a good feel for the mythology of the Hulk and the characters that were created to round out this incredible filmography.
When discussing the background of the film, the opening narration throws us right into the middle of the action. We see Banner (Bolt) riding on Gamma Orb, and battling against the Hulk ( Sterner). The fighting is intense, and Banner’s marine serum helps him sustain the Hulk’s strength. Then, the story kicks off with Dr. Crawford creating Gamma Orb, and placing it into the hands of Dr. Crawford. In the process, he too gets infected with Gamma Orb, and is transformed into the Hulk.
As the name implies, Dr. Crawford transforms into the Hulk, and begins to battle Dr. Sterner. With the assistance of some new members of the Avengers, the New Freehold members are able to stop the villain. However, the Hulk soon finds out that he is still infected with Gamma Orb, and the Hulk turns into one of his Humanoids again – the Mark 3. This allows him to easily recover, but not before he attacks the Avengers again – but this time, he doesn’t manage to escape custody.
Overall, the Incredible Hulk opening narration provides an entertaining fast paced action movie full of humor and emotion. If you have not yet seen this fantastic film, do so! You won’t regret it. The Hulk will make your day!
