The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Islands of Adventure Orlando

incredible hulk coaster

The Incredible Hulk Coaster is a classic B&M sitdown launched coaster and the first of its kind. Hulk has been thrilling riders for over 20 years, and even if you haven’t ridden it since its massive refurb in 2016, it still packs a punch.

Like Bruce Banner, you too will be able to “Hulk out” on this ride, launching 40 mph out of the core and into an iconic cobra roll over the Islands of Adventure lagoon. Guests will invert an additional three times and race through the course at speeds of up to 67 mph, making it one of Orlando’s fastest rides.

Located in Marvel Superhero Island, The Incredible Hulk Coaster was built by the Swiss coaster design firm Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M). A major overhaul in 2015 and 2016 saw the attraction completely dismantled, new track, and trains with onboard sound. During the revamp, Universal added a new pre-ride queue scene that makes the attraction feel more like the futuristic gamma radiation lab responsible for turning Dr. Banner into the Incredible Hulk, and the train cars were fitted with Hulk’s signature green color.

The ride itself features a thrilling, quick pacing that provides an excellent thrill while also being forgiving enough to be enjoyable for most adults. After the initial launch, riders enter a vertical loop and then a small tighter corkscrew before dropping down into a diving zero-g roll over the water below. A helix then leads into a larger vertical loop that wraps around an upcoming brake run, and then another small tight corkscrew before hitting the station brakes. Overall, the ride is fun and exciting with a few rough spots that can catch you off guard for a B&M looper, but it’s an awesome experience if you’re in the mood for a fast adrenaline rush.

Riders are seated 4 across in a single train with 8 cars per train for a total of 32 riders. The ride has a height requirement of 54 inches, and Express Pass access and a Single Rider Line are available. As with all rides at Islands of Adventure, loose articles such as bags and refillable cups must be stowed in free lockers near the attraction’s entrance. You can find them to the right of the queue line as you approach, and directly across from the ride’s entrance.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster is positioned as the first attraction to ride when entering Islands of Adventure, and it is often one of the last rides before the park closes. With the opening of Jurassic Park VelociCoaster, however, this attraction may get bumped down the list for some visitors. The park’s staff recommends riding it either first thing at park opening or as the final attraction before closing.
