The Incredible Hulk Is Now Available on Disney+

Disney+ has been adding Marvel movies to their lineup with all the Sony Spider-Man films recently joining the service, along with Tom Hardy’s Venom and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, one MCU film that remained off of the platform until now was 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Now, it has finally landed on the streaming giant and fans of the raging behemoth will be happy to see this often-forgotten movie get its rightful place in the MCU.

Edward Norton stars as a scientist who is exposed to gamma rays, and soon after he begins to turn into the green behemoth whenever he gets angry or upset. The story follows his attempts to keep this secret, as well as the efforts of the military to track him down and neutralize him. As far as Hulk movies go, this is a solid entry in the series. While it doesn’t dive as deep into Banner’s backstory as Ang Lee’s 2003 movie, it still does a decent job of showing what makes him so angry and how he’s able to channel that into his strength.

Another thing that’s worth pointing out about this particular Hulk film is its use of CG animation. While it’s not the best or most realistic that you’ll ever see, it’s certainly more than adequate for this movie. It’s also nice to see a Hulk that looks more like a person than the buffoonish versions that have come in later MCU movies.

As for the rest of the movie, it’s an action-packed adventure. There’s a ton of fighting between the Hulk and some bad guys. There’s even a chase through a Brazilian favela that’s fairly thrilling and impressive. Edward Norton does a solid job as Banner, and while it doesn’t quite match up to the other Hulk movies that have been made in the modern era, it’s definitely not bad.

In addition to a ton of Hulk action, The Incredible Hulk also features a pretty good supporting cast. Liv Tyler and Tim Roth do a solid job of providing some depth to the story. The action scenes are also a lot of fun, with some great action set pieces.

Overall, it’s an excellent entry in the MCU and a worthy addition to Disney+’s growing library of superhero adaptations. While it doesn’t have the complexities that Ang Lee’s Hulk movie had, it’s still an enjoyable movie. It’s a solid 7 out of 10 and a worthy entry in the MCU canon.
