The Incredible Hulk on Disney Plus

The Incredible Hulk is joining the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus. The 2008 blockbuster has been a bit of a black sheep among the Marvel movies, but it’s finally getting the spotlight it deserves. This is great news for fans who have been waiting to see the Jade Giant’s solo outing on one of Disney’s streaming services.

Edward Norton stars as Bruce Banner, the larger-than-life human being who turns into the Incredible Hulk when he’s angered. The film follows a long string of mishaps that lead to Banner and the Abomination teaming up for an epic battle against each other. This is a highly entertaining movie that features some of the best action and visual effects in the entire MCU. It’s also the first time we’ve seen a fully-animated version of the Hulk, who is even more awe-inspiring than the human Bruce.

There were rumblings for a while that the movie would eventually make its way to Disney Plus, but it wasn’t clear when. The move makes sense, given the fact that it was one of the last Marvel movies to be released before Disney took over Marvel Studios and its distribution deal with Universal Pictures expired. It’s also part of a recent trend to add the more errant MCU movies to Disney+, including Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films and Tom Hardy’s Venom.

In my opinion, The Incredible Hulk is a major upgrade over Ang Lee’s 2003 adaptation of the comic book character, which was overly complicated and not as awe-inspiring as it could have been. This film is more focused on delivering the whack-all-destroy-all action that so many fans crave, while still managing to include a few well-placed dramatic scenes. There are a few flaws, such as the unintentional humor and lack of depth in the romance between Banner and Betty Ross, but it’s overall a solid movie that is well worth your time.

There are also terrific cameos from Stan Lee (as always), Lou Ferrigno as the original Hulk, and a few other MCU stars. The Incredible Hulk is an easy pick for a top-notch superhero flick that you can enjoy anywhere on any device. So if you’re looking for an entertaining ride, grab your favorite popcorn and head on over to Disney+. You can stream the movie right now, or you can wait until all of the other Marvel content arrives on the service. Either way, it’s a good reason to get a subscription.
